Brand Attracts, Engagement Retains

by Tom Roth/ David Yes ford
"What keeps you going everyday?"

Talent retention is a key concern for many branded organizations. There have been studies showing that engaged employees will lead to higher productivity, and that translates to a bigger pool of loyal customers.

What are the important factors for organization to take note of in their efforts to engage their employees? The first key factor is leadership and the second key factor is employees' line of sight on how their work value-adds to the organization's value chain.

Top management, and the HR/OD Teams should always reflect on the reason(s) why their employees chose to stay with the organization (active) instead of just asking them for their reasons to leave (exit interviews - reactionary). Many organisations often make the mistake of taking their employees for granted and assume that they know what they need and want. Sometimes, the reality can be rather different.

Why should we then second-guess our employees when we already know it is inefficient and ineffective to second-guess our boss (or even to overwhelm our boss with too much information)?
